Award Criteria
- Modeling - faculty member demonstrates collegial and professional excellence by advocating collaboration, inter-disciplinary communication, and willingness to share credit for co-ventures with the students they work with.
- Availability - faculty member regularly makes himself/herself available to students even while away from campus, e.g., on sabbatical.
- Advocacy - faculty member actively advocates for students s/he advises and for graduate students in general. This may involve such matters of climate, support, professional development, and academic opportunity.
- Creativity - faculty member works with student to find directions for academic pursuit that match both the student's interests and real-world availability of post-graduation employment and/or plans the student may have.
- Listening - faculty member listens to students' concerns and interests first, then engages in identifying options.
- Awareness - faculty member actively works to stay abreast of currentdisciplinary trends and opportunities, both inside and outside of the academy.
