Teaching
Summer 2007
I will be teaching or co-teaching the following courses this summer:
- ENG5200, Engineering Applications in the Physical Sciences
This class will show how engineers use principles from the physical sciences to solve problems and design systems. I teach a 1.5 day module introducing biomedical engineering and biomaterials. - MY2100, Introduction to Materials Science and Engineering
Fall 2007
I will be teaching MEEM4700 in the Fall of 2007.
Courses Taught
- CH/CM4620, Polymer Chemistry
- BE4900, Biomedical Design Fundamentals
- BE3750, Human Biomechanics
This course examines the structure-property-processing relationships of human tissues (bone, muscle and cartilage) as well as examining the movement of the human body. Dynamics, mechanics, advanced mathematics and anatomy & physiology are all required skills to master the material in this course. - BE4300/5300, Advanced Polymeric Biomaterials
The properties of polymers are studied in detail, particularly as they relate to implantable medical devices. Each student completes a term paper on a medical device of their choice, and has the opportunity to gain in depth knowledge about a device he or she is particularly interested in. - ENG5200, Engineering Applications in the Physical Sciences
